Health Careers Toolkit

The Health Careers Toolkit Project develops and distributes a series of Health Careers Toolkits for use in organizations feeding Allegheny and Fayette Counties' health workforce pipelines. The Toolkits are provided in hard copy and electronically. Toolkit components focus on high vacancy healthcare fields. Toolkit Technical Assistance Managers work with Toolkit partners–high schools, legislative offices, job placement facilities, training providers, and employers–to coordinate training in and marketing and distribution of Toolkits to workforce-related staff.

Local public and private organizations throughout the counties' workforce development system are forging stronger partnerships as they use the Toolkit together and current education and career awareness initiatives are integrating Toolkit information into their programming. For job seekers, the Toolkit is clarifying access and navigation among training providers, healthcare employers and job placement facilities. High school students have greater career literacy and exposure and access to opportunities to pursue healthcare careers regionally.

To ensure successful implementation in both counties, HCF recruited a Health Careers Toolkit Advisory Committee for Allegheny and Fayette counties. Each committee, comprised of community stakeholders, lends its regional expertise to ensure Toolkit components are aligned with the needs and goals of their communities.

This project is funded by the Department of Labor, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
